CGI or CMA? One question decides it.

Same sample, same lab, same turnaround. The difference is how far past the gut the report reads.

A closer look

The GutID Core Gut Insights (CGI) test is an at-home gut microbiome test that analyzes a single stool sample to map the bacteria in your gut down to the strain level — delivering high-resolution, accurate insight into your digestive and overall health that standard tests can't reach.

Strain-level resolution — and why it matters

Most at-home gut health tests identify bacteria only to the genus or species level. GutID resolves your microbiome to the individual strain, because strains of the same species can have opposite effects — one beneficial, another harmful. That precision is what turns a microbiome test into an actionable one. See the science behind GutID.

What the Core Gut Insights test measures

  • Microbiome diversity, richness, evenness, and resilience
  • Beneficial bacteria and pathogens associated with inflammation risk
  • Antibiotic resistome profile
  • Indicators associated with gut conditions including IBS, SIBO, and IBD
  • Gut mucosa and barrier-function markers
  • Signals related to how your microbiome may influence nutrient and dietary metabolism

Personalized food and supplement recommendations

Your report translates your unique bacterial profile into tailored food recommendations, plus customized supplement, prebiotic, and probiotic suggestions based on your individual results — so you know what to actually do next.

How the at-home gut test works

Your kit includes everything for simple at-home stool collection with step-by-step instructions. Ship your sample in the prepaid return envelope. It is processed in a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory in the United States.

How long results take

Once the lab receives your sample and it passes quality control, processing typically takes 3–4 weeks to yield results. Your results are then uploaded to your GutID portal account, and you get an email letting you know they are available to view.

Powered by Intus Bio's patented Titan-1™ long-read sequencing and AI/ML analysis platform.

What's In The Test Kit

Collection Tube, Activation Card, Instructional Manual, Stool Catcher Strips, Sample Bag, Pre-paid Sample Return Bag.

Reliable: species and strain-level resolution

GutID runs on Titan-1™, and the resolution comes from the whole workflow rather than any single step in it: a proprietary lysis and extraction method we manufacture ourselves, which opens bacteria that conventional extraction struggles to recover; a patented amplicon spanning the complete 16S–ITS–23S ribosomal region; and our own AI/ML-driven bioinformatics platform, which assigns identity from that full region rather than matching short fragments against a fixed database.

Together these give species-level identification and strain differentiation while keeping relative abundance accurate, so your report reflects what is actually in your sample — including organisms that are poorly represented in reference databases.

Answers to the questions people ask before they buy. More on our full FAQs page.

What do I actually have to do?

Collect one stool sample at home with the kit — it takes a few minutes and the instructions walk you through it. Seal it, drop the prepaid return envelope in the mail, and you're done. No blood draw, no clinic visit.

How long until I get results?

After the lab receives your sample and it passes quality checks, results take 3–4 weeks in the US and 4–5 weeks in the UK and Canada. You'll get an email the moment your report is in your GutID portal.

What's in the report?

A map of your gut as an ecosystem — diversity and resilience, the beneficial bacteria you have and the ones you're missing, pathogens with quantities and reference ranges, antibiotic resistance, and gut-barrier markers — then a personalized food, prebiotic, probiotic and supplement plan built from your results. CMA adds the five gut axes. See a sample report.

Do I need a clinician?

You can order directly without a clinician. Individual clients can choose an optional $79.00 report consultation. If you are a clinician, interpretation support is always included at no charge.

Can I pay with my HSA or FSA?

For US customers, GutID may be eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement depending on your plan. Your order confirmation provides an itemized receipt, and some plans require a letter of medical necessity. Check with your benefits administrator before ordering.

Do you ship to Canada and the UK?

Yes. Kits ship free to the US, Canada and the UK. UK customers have their own kit — switch the country at the top of the page and you'll see UK pricing in pounds.

Is this a diagnostic test?

No. GutID provides wellness and educational insight into your microbiome — including named pathogens with quantities — but it isn't a substitute for a clinician's diagnosis. If you suspect an acute infection, a regulated diagnostic assay is still the right test.
