The GutID Core Gut Insights (CGI) test is an at-home gut microbiome test that analyses a single stool sample to map the bacteria in your gut down to the strain level.
Strain-level resolution — and why it matters
Most at-home gut tests identify bacteria only to genus or species level. GutID resolves your microbiome to the individual strain, because strains of the same species can have opposite effects — one beneficial, another harmful. See the science behind GutID.

Titan-1™ reads a single patented fragment spanning the complete 16S–ITS–23S ribosomal operon in one piece, rather than a short marker region. That resolution is what lets it distinguish pathogens from closely related strains, symbiotic and probiotic bacteria, and rare or low-abundance organisms.

Shipping and collection
Free shipping to you, and a prepaid envelope to send your sample back. Collection takes about five minutes at home.
Your collection tube contains a preservative that keeps the sample stable at room temperature for up to two years, so there is no refrigeration and no rush to post it.

Your results
Samples are processed in a CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited laboratory in the United States using patented Intus Bio technology.
Once your sample reaches the lab and passes quality control, processing typically takes 4–5 weeks for UK orders. Your report appears in your GutID portal account and we email you as soon as it is ready.

Replacements and cancellations
If your kit arrives damaged, or the collection tube is compromised, email ask@gutid.com and we will send a free replacement — provided no sample has been submitted, the kit has not expired, and a replacement is available.
If your sample fails quality control at the lab through a fault on our side, we replace the kit free of charge.
Cancel within 24 hours of ordering and you are refunded in full, less a 3% processing fee. Once preparation of your kit begins, orders cannot be canceled or returned, because of the medical nature of the product.

GutID runs on Titan-1™, and the resolution comes from the whole workflow rather than any single step in it: a proprietary lysis and extraction method we manufacture ourselves, which opens bacteria that conventional extraction struggles to recover; a patented amplicon spanning the complete 16S–ITS–23S ribosomal region; and our own AI/ML-driven bioinformatics platform, which assigns identity from that full region rather than matching short fragments against a fixed database.
Together these give species-level identification and strain differentiation while keeping relative abundance accurate, so your report reflects what is actually in your sample — including organisms that are poorly represented in reference databases.

What do I actually have to do?
Collect one stool sample at home with the kit — it takes a few minutes and the instructions walk you through it. Seal it, drop the prepaid return envelope in the mail, and you're done. No blood draw, no clinic visit.
How long until I get results?
Once the lab receives your sample and it passes quality control, processing typically takes 4–5 weeks for UK orders. You'll get an email the moment your report is in your GutID portal.

Yes. UK kits ship free both ways, and the pre-paid return goes straight to the lab. Prices on this page are in pounds.
Is this a diagnostic test?
No. GutID provides wellness and educational insight into your microbiome — including named pathogens with quantities — but it isn't a substitute for a clinician's diagnosis. If you suspect an acute infection, a regulated diagnostic assay is still the right test.
